The following is taken from H.B. Wilkinson Title Company's "HBW Title News" publication, Issue 2, Fall 2000.

News from the Web

H. B. Wilkinson Title Company has been successfully conducting E-business over the Internet. Many of our customers have utilized our web site, www.hbwtitle.com to place their title orders. Also our customers have enjoyed having their commitments and reports E-mailed back to them. It provides a much cleaner copy than receiving them via the fax machine. If you are interested in receiving your orders in this fashion, please notify us with your E-mail address.

HBW’s web site also provides information about title insurance, current news and general information about the company, office locations, as well as; E-mail connections to each of H.B. Wilkinson’s office locations. In a genuine business to business web application, the site can accept lender’s closing documents via E-mail. What’s more, it’s also linked to other title industry related sites.

Under Public Act 91-790, effective June 9, 2000 the statutory short form power of attorney for property has been amended to:

1. Require the signature of at least one witness (in addition to the notary) and

2. Require that the witness state that " I believe him or her (the principal under the power of
attorney) to be of sound mind and memory."

You are able to get the new power of attorney form on line. Go to www.isba.org. On the home page there is a notice of the new power of attorney form. Click on "printable pdf version" and you can print out the new form. This is not the form from the statute, but of sufficient quality that you can make copies of it and have on hand as needed.
